Vide Press Releases dated 07 November 2019 and 19 December 2019 it has been brought to the notice that:
OCI card needs to be re-issued each time a new passport is acquired by the cardholder up to the age of 20 years.
OCI card is required to be re-issued onceon acquiring a new passport after completing 50 years of age.
Re-issuance of OCI card is not mandatory each timea passport is issued to a cardholder between 21 and 50 years of age.
Government of India has granted temporary relaxation till 30June 2020towards the observance of the above instructions.
It may be mentioned that Re-issue of OCI Card does not involve the same detailed process which is followed when issuing an OCI Card for the first time. Also, the process takes much less time. The fee (exclusive of CKGS Charges and shipping) currently is US$25.00 only. The application can be made online at www.in.ckgs.us/oci/

For observance of the instructions and to avoid inconvenience after 30 June 2020, in case anOCI card holder below 20 years of age or more than 50 years of age gets a new passport issued, application for re-issue of OCI card be made.As providing the service takes time, applicants are advised to apply at the earliest avoiding the last-minute rush.
