To apply for OCI cards, applicants may visit the website of the outsourced agency, VFS Global (https://services.vfsglobal.com/usa/en/ind/apply-oci-services) and apply as per procedure laid out there. The provisions for submission of appropriate fees and document checklist are provided there.
*Kindly note that OCI applications under Foreign Spouse Category will only be accepted after a personal interview with the applicant and his/her spouse.
Things to remember while submitting OCI applications:
- While filling up the OCI online application form, applicants must make sure that all their details match with their foreign passport (given name, surname, passport number, date of birth etc.).
- If there are any changes in the applicants’ name from their previously held Indian passports, they must enter their previous name as per their Indian passports on the application form. They are also required to submit a copy of the name change order as well.
- Applicants must upload all the documents which they are sending with their application to VFS on the Government of Indias OCI portal (https://ociservices.gov.in/welcome).
- Applicants are advised to keep checking the status of their application. They will receive emails if there is any shortcoming in their application which they need to fulfill or their application may be rejected by VFS Global.
