The Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India has taken many significant steps to improve the delivery of passport related services. The Passport Rules been simplified to a large extent. The passport services have also been taken closer to the doorsteps of the citizens. 

The Ministry of External Affairs together with the Department of Posts took the decision to start Passport Seva Kendras in Head Post Offices as well. As a result, 236 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) are in operation as on date and many more are in the pipeline. This, when added to 36 Passport Offices and 93 erstwhile Passport Seva Kendras makes a total of 365 Passport Offices available for the public.

The Passport Seva Program since its inception has brought huge transformation towards delivery of Passport Services in India. The Ministry has initiated the integration of Passport Seva Program at all Indian Embassies and Consulates across the globe. As part of this initiative, the Ministry successfully initiated the Pilot program at the High Commission of India, London followed by the Consulate General of India in Birmingham and in Edinburgh. The Government of India plans to roll out the Global Passport Seva Program at all Embassies/ Consulates within the next 3-4 months.

The Global Passport Seva Program has been launched today at the Consulate General of India, Atlanta for the Indian Diaspora. The new system will help in easy and convenient application submission process, standardization, digital overhauling,end-to-end status tracking and enhanced security. This project will ensure better services for our citizens here in South East part of US.

Though the Consulate General of India in Atlanta is a new Post, having started its operations since 2012, there has been a steady increase in submission of applications for passports. The Consulate is witnessing double digit growth in passport related services from 2015 onwards. More than 10,572 passports have been issued through the Passport Seva system since January 2018.

Concurrently, Hon. Minister of State has launched the South East Regional Chapter of National Indian American Chamber of Commerce (NIACC) in association with Board Members & Officers of NIACC today.

Launching of Atlanta Regional Chapter (SE) of NIACC will provide the much-needed sustainable platform in which businesses can exchange ideas, communicate, interact and provide continued growth and development of the Indian American businesses for the mutual benefit of the two countries. The student friendly programs such as E-mentoring program will provide young Indian Students with role model from around the country with industry specific mentors from corporate America through the NIACC network. The NIACC will also offer the Regional Youth Entrepreneurship ‘BizFest’ platform equipping Indian students with tools to become successful in both business and life.
