The Government of India, from time to time, has revoked the ban on several categories of visas for travel to India, which were earlier put in place due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Applicants within the consular jurisdiction of the Consulate General of India, Atlanta requiring urgent travel to India are requested to contact the Consulate by email at:  to initiate the visa process.

Residents of the following US States and Territories can apply for visa at the Consulate General of India, Atlanta: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virgin Islands.


e-Visa is currently not issued.

Renunciation of Indian Nationality

US diplomatic and official passport holders may please contact the Special Issuance Agency of the Department of State for procedure/guidance.

Diplomatic and Official Visa Application cases require the clearance of relevant authorities in India.  It is, therefore, advised that all Diplomatic/Official Visa applications be submitted well in advance of the travel date. 

Applications for Diplomatic and Official Visas may be filled up online at:   A print-out of the application along with following documents may be sent to the Consulate by e-mail at:

  1. Letter from US Department of State.

  2. Filled-in Particulars Form.

  3. Filled-in Additional Particulars Form.

  4. Letter of invitation from Indian agencies in case of bilateral visits.

  5. Passport with a minimum validity of 6 months and at least 2 blank pages.
