Outsourcing of Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) Service for Indian Nationals with VFS Global

With Effect from May 17, 2021, the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) service for Indian Nationals will be outsourced to the outsourcing partner VFS Global.

Applicants resident in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Puerto Rico, South Carolina,  Tennessee and US Virgin Islands can apply. 
Applicants should apply at https://portal4.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html.


They may create a Login ID choosing Atlanta as the Mission and then fill out the online PCC application.  While filling up the application, applicants may write their Indian Address and the name of the concerned Police Station, enabling the police authorities to verify their antecedents.  After filling the online application, applicants may take a printout and complete the set by enclosing the supporting documents (coloured copies) listed below:
1.    Copy of passport (notarized).
2.    Valid US Visa status (notarized).
3.    Proof of address: US Driving License, Utility Bill, Lease Agreement, State Identity Card or Mortgage Deed (notarized).
4.    One color passport-size photograph, to be pasted and to sign below in the respective spaces.

PCC, as per the current government of India guidelines, would be issued only after clearance from the respective Police authority in India. Therefore, applicants may please note that there is no fixed timeframe for issuance of PCC.

(Please note that PCC for non-Indian nationals will continue to be processed by the Consulate General of India, Atlanta directly.)


How to apply:


Register online,Applicants should apply at https://portal4.passportindia.gov.in/Online/index.html. print and complete form with photo and signature.

Fill personal particular Form completely including Photo and signature.

Applicants have to provide the details of their stay in India/ Educational Details of India

If application is being sent by post please sent a separate $20/- cashier’s check or money order fee for return mail. Or Enclose a trackable pre-paid self-addressed return mailing envelope.


(Supporting Documents)
Please attach the Clear Notarised photocopy of the  Passport, Address Proof, Legal Status.  


 List of documents valid as a proof of Address/Residence (Copy of any one of following):
•    US Driving License OR
•    Utility Bill OR
•    Lease Agreement OR
•    State Identity Card OR
•    Mortgage Deed


 Proof of US Visa Status IF applicable (Copy of any one of the following):
•    Visa page of Passport (i.e. H1B, H4, L1, L2 etc.) OR
•    Green Card OR
•    Employment Authorization Document (Work Permit) OR
I-797, I-140 or I-20 (If approval is pending, attach a handwritten note detailing the efforts being taken to regularize status)


    Fee: 
Fee for applicants holding passports issued in RPOs and other Indian Embassy/ High Commission/Consulates:  A fee of US$ 45.00(Forty Five Only)  in favor of Consulate General of India, Atlanta(CGI,Atlanta) and an additional fee with a separate cheque or money order of US$ 2.00 (Two Only) towards Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF).  The fees may be paid only by money orders/cashier’s cheques.

(Personal Cheques, Credit Cards, Debit Cards Or Other Banking Instruments Are Not Accepted)
Processing time: 5-7 working days from the date of receipt of applications by post. This is subject to submission of all requisite documents by the applicant(s).
Incomplete applications will be sent back without the service indicating the requisites to complete.
