Emergency Visa

The Emergency Visa service is only for US passport holders of Indian origin and their family members required to visit India due to a genuine family emergency, such as critical illness or death of a family member. Documentary evidence will need to be provided and the applicant will be charged an emergency service fee.

The non-emergency visa applicants can apply for a regular Entry Visa through VFS Global, without submission of any emergency documentation or reason for travel to India, subject to eligibility conditions. Processing of such applications will be as per normal procedures.

Applicants residing within the CONSULAR JURISDICTION of the Consulate General of India, Atlanta requiring Emergency Visa may contact VFS Global to schedule an appointment. On receipt of the first email, VFS representative will contact the applicant on an expeditious basis.

In addition, applicants may contact the Consulate on its Emergency Visa Helpline at +1 404 910 7919 (during weekends and holidays only).

It may be noted that Emergency Visa will be granted subject to submission of complete documentation and the Consulate may seek additional documentation in certain cases. Applicants are also advised not to finalize their travel arrangements prior to issuance of visa. Emergency Visa will be issued for a maximum of six-month duration/single entry.
